2016 Lincoln MKS - Blurry windshield

Has anyone had a problem with your windshield becoming blurry because of a default in the plastic wrinkling in the windshield?

If Ford won’t help you with this problem–and they probably won’t–speak with your car insurance agent. The insurance company wants you to be able to see properly in order to avoid a crash, and it is possible that your insurance might cover windshield replacement.

Go to safercar.gov and search for recalls on your car. You aren’t actually looking for recalls, but manufacturer communications. There is one for visibility, click on it, read it, then go to your dealer. If they can’t find the problem, ask if they checked out this issue.

Interesting read, I have one of the affected vehicles,
But as far as I can tell from the material safety data the washer fluid I use does not contain hydrofluoric acid. I have no visibility problems.

Some 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.
