2016 Hyundai Elantra can’t pass emission inspection

Car checked out and in excellent condition with only 43,000 miles on it can’t pass emissions inspection after installing a new battery

The emissions monitor data has been erased from the Powertrain Control Module. The vehicle will need to be driven at least 10 miles to pass those monitors. This can take much longer for some drivers, a steady driving method is important.

How about 200 / 15? 200 miles, 15 warm ups

Did you just buy this car?

Interesting though, how my 2010 Honda Accord passed its emissions with less than 50 miles driving after having the battery cable connectors removed and cleaned, along with the terminals on the battery itself. Even had to recode the radio to use it after the above maintenance.

It’s a very lightly

No, it was purchased in 2018 and has not had any problems except for recall on trunk mechanism. It is very lightly used as a second car for a retired couple who mainly drive a Mazda CX-5.

Problem is that it’s a hardly used second car for a retired couple. It’s been driven more than 50 miles but still fails emissions test.

It was done while battery was replaced

Some technicians will drive the vehicle for a customer for a one hour labor fee.

Or; perhaps the retired couple could find 30 minutes each day to drive the vehicle during an uninterrupted trip in order to pass the required monitors. Might take 3 days, could take 5 days.

One long trip may not complete the monitors. 15 short trips will not complete the monitors, the trips must have at least 10 minutes of continuous movement.
