Engine light in my Hyundai Accent 2016, told my 02 sensors need to be replaced and need catalytic converter needs to be replaced! 97,000 miles
Well, we can’t tell you any different. Good luck with those repairs.
Are you sure about that? Did anyone actually diagnose the problem? The codes just tell you what diagnostic steps to take next. They don’t tell you to blindly replace any parts.
Concur w/ @lion9car above, if diagnosis was made only by reading diagnostic codes, return and ask the diagnosis be verified by independent methods. Or take your car to another shop for second opinion.
However if bad-cat diagnosis was made by the shop comparing pre- vs post-cat o2 sensor signals, and the o2 sensors are known to be good, and shop discovered the signals didn’t have the correct relationship, that’s a pretty conclusive test cat needs to be replaced. To do this test correctly the shop would have to first replace the faulty o2 sensor with good ones. Have they?
