my 2016 chevy traverse waste excessive oil
Please define waste??? uses, burns, leaks???
What engine do you have and FWD or AWD?
How many miles?
Newer cars tend to use more engine oil than in days of yore. Newer engines are designed for maximally optimum fuel economy. What you are experiencing may be normal for your car. How much engine oil do you need to add every 1000 miles?
Check your oil level often. Note how much you put in to get it full again and the mileage on the car. Next time you put oil in, note the mileage on the car. Subtract the smaller from the bigger. If you put in one quart in 2000 miles that would be normal oil use. Anything less than 1000 miles per quart is telling you the engine is not long for this world and you should start car shopping.
If you are letting the oil change place take care of this instead of checking yourself, start shopping for a new car right now as you will likely destroy the engine in the VERY near future.
I don’t know of a single car company that makes a 3.6 liter engine that doesn’t burn oil before it destroys itself.
Try to find a used 3.6 engine in a junk yard.
Good luck!

Also, since one person’s definition of “excessive” could be very different from someone else’s definition of the same word, more detail is needed–specifically–how many miles do you drive before you need to add 1 quart of oil?
