ANTIFREEZE SMELL IN ENGINE BAY FOR 2.5i ENGINE BUT DEALER CANNOT FIND ANY LEAKS BUT I STILL SMELL ANTIFREEZE SMELL WHEN ENGINE IS WARMED-UP AND I CANNOT SEE ANY LEAKS EXTERNAL, ANY OTHER SUBARU OWNER HAVE THIS PROBLEM? CAR HAS 58,000 MILES.
Is the coolant level dropping in the overflow tank or are you just smelling the antifreeze?
It could be in a hard to see place such as underneath the head gaskets. That is unfortunately a not uncommon problem with Subarus, but it could be something else and simpler.
How much coolant is being lost? You need to look thoroughly, with the front end elevated on ramps or secure jack stands. Or have someone other than the dealer try to diagnose it. If it is bad head gaskets, there may still be a warranty so don’t burn the bridges between you and the dealer.
