Is putting a new short block solve oil consumption in Subaru Forester
It normally does solve the issue. Although there have been a few owners who reported new oil consumption issues after the new block was put in, for the vast majority of owners it is the solution. If you want to read more on the subject, please see our prior coverage here.

If the oil consumption was coming from the rings {most common) it will solve it. If it was coming from the valve guides, it won’t, but before a new short block was authorized, the heads should have been checked wor worn guides.
The folks at Subaru know where the defect is. That is why they go to the incredible expense of swapping out short blocks at no cost to the owner. (And provide free loaner cars).
