Dear Car Talk - I have a 2014 Nissan Altima that has developed high pitched squeaky brakes. Evidently this has been a huge problem with this vehicle with apparently no solution - according to the dealer. Multiple complaints according to the forums on line. Would this problem be so hard to solve? Thanks for your input. Sharon
Do you have good pad thickness? You could be hearing the metal wear sensor clips if it is time to change your pads. If it is not the wear sensors, the sound is annoying but doesn’t effect the stopping power or safety of your brakes.
If the dealer says he can’t fix it, I would take it somewhere else unless you have an extended warranty with him.
Try a different brand of brake pads. You didn’t say if they were OEM or aftermarket.Performance brake pads like Hawks are know to squeek a lot.
