sometimes my durango won’t shift. it says gear not in park and it won’t let you do anything. I have to shut it off and leave it for awhile. than when I return it works fine
The mechanics here may have better advice, but this sure sounds to me like the shift lock is giving you trouble. It is a safety device that drives some of us nuts. Ask you mechanic if he/she agrees that this is a good place to start.
Are you sure the drivers door is completely closed ? If it sees the driver door is open or not completely closed it will not shift into gear and this is by design on the 8 speed auto they use on the Durango’s . Or the switch on the driver door is flaking out .
