We have a 2013 Subaru Legacy & it drives very nice but at around 70,000 miles the transmission started to whine when you let off the gas. Almost like a jake brake on a semi. Anyone else have a fairly new Subaru that sounds like a lawn mower is running outside from the transmission?
Probably an exhaust leak.Plug the tail pipe with a rag and look for fumes along the pipes.
check the oil level in the front differential, it is a separate dip-stick under the hood, on the passenger side, almost under firewall
the amount of oil there is under one quart from what I recall, so if you have any leak, it goes low very fast
