2013 Honda CR-V - 2 bad purge valves?

i have been getting a check engine light on my Honda CRV 2013. My mechanic checked code and replaced evap system’s purge valve and vent valve yet problem still persists intermittently. Vehicle has 220,000 kms on it and otherwise runs perfectly.mechaic suggest it could be faulty purge valve as replacement was an aftermarket replace. he suggests getting another purge valve from Honda and trying it to see if problem is rectified. .

Depending on what the DTC is, it might not be a bad purge valve.

A valve does what it is told by computer. Does your valve perform according to scan tool? On and off?

What is the code? Since you express mileage in kilometers, you aren’t from the USA. I mention that because many of our engine codes are stored in the OBD-II system. If your SUV has OBD-II, let us know what the code is.

Unfortunately, my mechanic has te code. But 220 K kilometres is approximately 140,000 miles if that helps. I will get the code from mechanic.

It only comes on intermittently so he suspects we got a faulty after-market purge valve and recommends getting one from a Honda dealer and replacing it. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it seems to.

Yes mechanic suspects it COULD be. He installed an after-market one and suggests he get one from the Honda dealer which might cost a little more so we might try that.

The code DID suggest the purge valve.

I suspect you need a better mechanic

Most decent bidirectional scan tools can close the vent, open the purge and watch the tank pressure go down. Then close the purge and watch for pressure leaking down. Or pull the intake line and use a handheld vacuum pump to see if the purge holds vacuum while closed. Simple tests…

Thank you.
