I own a 2012 Hyundai Accent with 87,000 miles. Twice for no reason the powersteering stopped working and the EPS light came on. First time in August 2019 and then today December 2019. Took it to the repairman the first time but it was working fine and they couldn’t find a problem. Does anyone know why this would happen?
EPS is Electronic Power Steering
A weak battery can cause this. If this is the original battery it is VERY likely time to replace it.
If the light came one, there should be an error message in the EPS computer. If your mechanic can’t read that computer, he will not find out what is wrong. You need to make sure he can read the computer. You could also take him for a drive with his computer hooked up to the car and try to replicate the problem for him so he can log the data.
