I have a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse and when the gas gauge get around a 1/2 tank it starts acting up. Sometime when I first start the car it will only show a 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank and when it is driven a while it jump up and show a 1/2 tan. The miles to travel will also give different readings. Do you have any idea why the gas gauge is so inconsistent?

Yup, buildup on the sender in the tank itself. Common problem with GM cars with Delphi pumps. Try a bottle or 2 of Techron fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank. Soak it for as long as you can. If the car won’t be driven for a few days, add to a full tank of fuel before it sits and drive normally. Usually clears up in 1 treatment. Sometimes takes 2.
