Going through a quart of oil a week!!
Oil usage is measured by number of miles driven.
I just bought it a month ago! I’ve put less than 2000 miles on it!
2000 miles in one month. 1 month = 4 weeks So a quart every 500 miles?
That is bad. This engine is effectively worn out.
Did you have your mechanic check it out before you bought it?
You can keep driving it and putting oil in it but it will destroy the catalytic convertor and it will get worse. At some point, if not now, a blue-white cloud will follow this thing down the road everywhere you go.
You have my sympathy. The 2010 to 2013 Equinox 2.4 4 cyl had oil consumption issues due to premature wear of the piston oil control rings. This thread is about the same problem I had with my 2013 Equinox.
GM was replacing the rings and pistons under an extended warranty, you need to check if your Equinox qualifies.
