2011 BMW X5 seizes 30 miles after work done

You need an independent professional opinion as to what has happened to the engine. You are nor going to get that from the people that did the service work. BMW has had some major engine failures due to breakage of the timing chain tensioner. My daughter has a BMW that had the tensioner replaced on a warranty recall. She had 60,000 mile extended warranty. At 64,000 miles the tensioner failed and the interference engine locked up. BMW quoted her $25,000 for an engine. I advised her to complain to the regional manager. They settled on $5,000 for an engine. I thought that was still too much, but you canā€™t tell young people anything. If you could, I would have told her not to buy a BMW.

That is all true, but for at least 4 days, the OPā€™s vehicle has been in the hands of the shop that could have screwed-up, and that could have tried to cover their tracks/mistakes. At this point, I doubt that an indy opinion would still be helpful.
