2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid - Wrong fuel

I mistaken put $10 worth of diesel in my toyata Camry hybrid, shortly after running for about 3hrs, the engine went off and won’t start again. Is there any likely that the engine might be dead? What should I do next to fix the problem?

And here we go again with another diesel in a gas vehicle ! Here is what you do Jim. You have it towed to a shop where they will drain the tank , clear the fuel lines and anything else that needs to be done . Also hope you get off for under 500.00 dollars .

The diesel fuel has fouled the park plugs. Drain the fuel tank, add gasoline, purge the fuel line and replace the spark plugs.

If you ever do this again, don’t run the engine. The repair would be cheaper.

I thought a diesel nozzle wouldn’t even fit in a gas filler ??? Running it for 3 hours after that is not going to end well or cheap .

In the last few months I have tried to insert the Diesel nozzle in my gas vehicle fuel filler pipe . Did not fit at 4 different stations . But every time I post that the diesel nozzle should not fit some here will disagree .

You are not the first that this has happened to, so don’t beat yourself up too bad. It is unfortunate, but you will need some service. I think the engine will recover.

In the ten years that my wife had a diesel car, we ran across one station that used a gas nozzle on their diesel pumps, so in my experience it’s very rare but not unheard of.
