I have a 2010 Subaru Outback. I was working on installing a new radio (the previous owner had cut and mangled the factory harness). I managed to get all the wires to work with a new wiring harness except for 4 or so wires - some of which are supposed to be the steering wheel control wires. So I (stupidly) tried to figure it out without a multimeter. As I was doing this, I plugged in a wire which I think I learned shortly after was a 12v (I think?) line for the button lights across the dash, I heard a small pop and then a few things stopped working. I eventually managed to get the dash lights to work but here’s what doesn’t work now:
- interior lights (at least the ones at the front and in the middle of the back row)
- The ac control panel doesn’t turn on
- The cruise control button lights up the on indicator but I can’t set a speed.
- And (well) the steering wheel controls that didn’t work since we had it from the previous owner
What are the odds that these are fuses that need to be replaced vs needing a new computer(ecm/ecu?) unit? Not having heat in CO in the winter sucks lol. If it is in fact a fuse issue, where do I find a diagram to check and diagnose which ones?
Thanks
