I have a 2010 Chevy Impala and I had a family friend thats a mechanic look at it and he hooked a computer up to it and its shifting 1-2 & 2-3 but its not shifting 3-4. Does anybody know what causes this!!! I am really hoping its not my transmission. Its only got 70,500 on it!!
There’s at least a dozen possible causes. The common-sense approach is to carefully examine all the electrical connections to the transmission for signs of problems. Next is to check for transmission related diagnostic codes. If nothing found, next step is a proper transmission service. If it still misbehaves the only option left for the majority of car owners is to take it to a transmission shop. They’ll start by testing the pressures at the various hydraulic fluid ports.
My Son’s F350 Ford pickup would not shift into 4th. A local independent transmission specialist replaced the shift solenoid for $100 and it has been fine for 4 years.
Thats what my family mechanic said he thought it was since his computer that he hooked it to said it was going from 1-2 & 2-3 but not 3-4. Im glad to know its not that expensive.
Would that cause my car to jump or miss?
