Is timing chain/water pump wear something a repair shop can recognize? After we had the Odyssey’s timing chain/water pump replaced at 130,000 miles, I discovered a receipt showing we already had this done at 111,000 miles.

FYI, the Honda Odyssey uses a timing belt, not a timing chain. Also the Odyssey has an interference engine, so if the belt breaks while the engine is running it usually results in catastrophic damage. A sticker came with the timing belt kit I recently used on my 1999 Civic. I filled it in and stuck it on a strut tower where it is very visible. I have sometimes seen such stickers on old Hondas in auto recycling yards.
