I can’t open the tailgate on my 2009 Ford Escape. Key fob unlocks doors and glass lift gate but not entire tailgate. Is this easy to fix? In the meantime, is there a release for the tailgate somewhere inside the vehicle that I haven’t found?

Just wanted to you to know that I’m having same issue with a 2012. Although, it is intermittent at this point. I can never tell when it will not decide to open. More times than not, it does open. Currently, it has decided to fail. It won’t fail for long but I can not figure anything consistent yet. I’ve tried the key fob lock then release for all doors several times and that seems to have no effect. Hoping to figure out something before it goes down hard. How is your status now?
