check engine light came on , what to do?
First, check to make sure your gas cap is in place and tight. If it was loose, it will take 5 starts or so to turn off the check engine light. If it wasn’t loose, take it to a local independent mechanic. They will plug the car into a computer and read out the error codes that suggest what might be wrong. They will charge you a diagnostic fee but that is usually waived if you ave the work done at that shop.
