2007 Lexus RX 350 - What do you think?

i TOOK MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC A YEAR AND A HALF AGO WITH A HOSE LEAKING AT THE FILLER NECK OF THE RADIATOR ONE OF THE SPOUTS THAT THE HOSE GOES ON WA BROKEN DOWN TOO FAR, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE OR REPAIR THAT FILLER NECK THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RADIATOR. WELL SOMEONE RIGGED IT UP WITH WIRE AND IT WAS FINE UNTIL THE DAY I WILL BE TELING YOU OF. FIRST APRX 4 WEEKS AGO THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING , TOOK IT IN THEY REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT WAS AS GOOD AS NEW FOR ONLY TWO WEEKS, SAME EXACT PROBLEMS STARTED AGAIN I WAS SURE IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT FAULTY OR STICKING FOR WHATEVER THE REASON, PARKED THE CAR BECAUSE WHEN I CALLED THEY SAID THEY DOUBTED IT WAS THAT , THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT, I DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE SOMETHING ELSE THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE. FINALLY GOT UP SOME FUNDS AND THE NEXT DAY I WAS ON THE WAY TO TAKE IT IN AND THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT, SMH. SO IT TOOK SOME TIME TO GET THE MONEY TOGETHER FOR THAT REPAIR AS WELL BUT I FINALLY DID AND TOOK IT STRAIGT IN TO CHUCK. WHILE DOING SO I KEPT WATER IN IT, IF IT WOULD GET JUST OVER THE 3’/4 SPOT I WOULD STOP OR SHUT IT OFF AND NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL IT WAS COOL ENOUGH. IT WAS RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH AS IT ALSO NEEDED A COIL PACK SERVICE IF FOUND OUT FROM A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SCAN. IN THE MEANTIME THE HOSE STARTED LEAKING AGAIN THAT VERY DAY, I ASSUME MY ALTERNATOR MECHANIC BUMPED IT WHILE REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR. I DID AN ONLINE SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THEY DID HAVE FILLER NECKS, IT COULD BE REPLACED SO STOPPED AT THE PARTS STORE AND TOOK IT TO CHUCK, HE WAS A LITTLE AGGITATED THAT I BROUGHT IT TO HIM HE SAID LEAVE THE CAR AND ILL CALL U IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. CALLED BACK AND H;E SAID HE GOT IT ON BUT IT DID SEEM THAT IN FACT IT DID NEED ANOTHER THERMOSTAT, HE WOULD PUT IN IN THE AM AND CALL HIM AROUND NOON. WHEN I CALLED HE SAID THAT I NEEDED AN ENGINE THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN, THE ONLY REASON THE CAR RAN WA BECAUSE IT HAD NO WATER IN IT AND WHEN IT GOT WATER IN IT THE ENGINE SEZIED UP. IT WAS RUNNING FINE HAD WATER IN IT AND THE RESERVOIR , VERY SMALL HOSE LEAK FOR ONLY APRX 30 MILES WITH NO MAGOR OVER HEAT WHATSOEVER I ASKED HIM IF THEY OVERHEATED IT TOO MUCH HE SAID THEY NEVER DROVE IT OUT OF THEIR YEAR IT BASICALLY MWEVER EVEN LEFT THE SPOT I LEFT IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK???

That I’m not going to read all that info when it’s all in CAPS, It’s considered yelling in forums.

I think you had a cooling system leak, overheated the engine and the cylinder heads are now warped.

BTW, your Lexus dealer should have had that radiator inlet in stock, there is no reason for you to have been driving with that leak.

Well I am sorry you didn’t fix it right in the first instance; half fixes with haywire are only to be used in an emergency to get you home or to a competent shop to fix it right. Having ignored that basic fact you have very likely come to a point of a head gasket job plus the repair of the broken plastic parts/radiator-best case. possibility of even cracked head (s) maybe because of driving with a haywire band aide. Chalk this up as a learning experience.
