car been running fine then all the sudden it started skipping and when you mashed the gas it would kinda rev. then the gas peddle went away

most folks cant really tell if a motor has a stumble at idle as they are not moving
once you start moving you can usually tell if the acceleration is smooth or not
Did the gas pedal fall off?
