Hi all, this is my first time posting. I just bought a 2006 Subaru forester with 130K miles. Recently, the check engine light came and at the same time the cruise control started flashing. I brought it to the mechanic who said I had a bad catalytic converter. The car seems to be running just fine and now a day later the engine light is off. Any thoughts or advice?
Your vehicle has the OBDII engine management system.
If the system detects a problem with the emission control system, it’ll turn on the Check Engine and record a diagnostic code indicating the where the problem lies.
If the problem no longer exists, the Check Engine light will turn off. But the system will store the code as a history code.
Tester
Take it to Autozone or Advance if the light comes back on. Then report the code back here. It will be in a P001 format.
