2006 Nissan Sentra Tranny Squeak

#1

I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra with about 58k miles on it. When it shifts into gear I hear a slight squeak, almost like a bushing or something like that. It does not sound mechanically related. More of something squeaking or loose etc. I dunno(lol) know.Any idea possibly? Thanks.

Have the motor/tranny mounts checked.

Could be one of your belts slipping a little bit. I don’t think your car has a belt tensioner, which helps keep the belts tight as they age. When your transmission shifts, the engine speed quickly adjusts, which can cause the belt to slip. Have you belts tightened or replaced.

Automatic ("When [it] shifts into gear . . .") ?

QG18DE engine & RE4F03B transmission ?

Would This Happen To Be On A 2nd Gear To 3rd Gear Shift ?

Nissan calls this the "2002-2006 Sentra 2-3 Shift 'Chirp' Noise." The noise may be coming from the high clutch assembly.

Feel The Magic!

They claim the noise can be eliminated with a potion. Buy yourself two bottles (200cc each) of Nissan ATF Treatment #31003-31X61P. You'll need 400cc in total.

  • With the car at operating temperature and engine idling in "Park" on a level surface, pull the trans dipstick and make sure the fluid is at least a pint below "Full Hot. (top of hot full range." You may have to drain off a little fluid.
  • Stop the engine and pour both bottles of treatment down the dipstick tube. Make sure you wipe that oil absorbent packing studd off the bottles first so it doesn't go down the hole.
  • Start it and check the fluid level. Do not overfill.
  • Drive about five miles and listen carefully . . .
  • Voilà ! The noise should be gone.

If this sounds like the real deal, the fluid can be purchased at a Nissan dealer, online at www.NissanChemicals.com , or by calling 1-800-811-0502 .

Oh sorry…yes auto and I’m not sure about engine and tranny numbers.

You could try something like an oil suction gun.

You're welcome. Let us know what happens. There could be other others out there with the same problem who want to buy the magic juice.
