I have a 2006 Nissan Altima with 142K miles. It is not starting right away. It coughs/sputters anywhere from 3 seconds to 10 seconds before turning over and starting. Any ideas on what the issue is? Thanks!
The next time you go to start the engine, turn the ignition switch to the run position so the dash lights come on for two seconds, and then turn the ignition switch off.
Repeat this a half dozen times and then try starting the engine. If the engine starts right up, there’s a problem with the anti drain-back valve on the fuel pump assembly.

@Tester - Thanks! I went and tried that - It worked! Are those things an easy fix for a hubby that is decent with cars or is that a mechanic job?
To gain access to the fuel pump assembly, remove the rear seat cushion and then remove the fuel pump access cover.
