2005 Subaru Outback - Odd AWD warning

my awd light comes on only after starting out. it seem ok until I let of the gas pedal or it shifts gears. Then the awd light comes on. All the fluids are good. Is there anything I should look for?

Tires…
Are all 4 tires the same make and model and tread depth??
Have you replaced less then 4 tires recently or anything???

Are there any other warning lights on, like the check-engine or ABS? Are there any diagnostic codes in the drivetrain computer’s memory, current or pending?

Absent that info, my guess, the fluid-coupled AWD transfer case function is beginning to fail. Suggest to do a quick search for prior posts about Subaru’s w/this symptom to see what others have said, link upper right this page.

Check your tire pressures as well. A low tire(s) relative to the others can cause the light to illuminate.

For AWD light issues, check the wheel speed sensors for faults. Check your tire tread depth and inflation. Check differentials’ fluid levels and condition. You can also scan AWD control module for fault codes and look out for any wiring damage.
