We bought our son a 2005 Lancer that has only 13K miles on it. Problem: Often, when I start the car from cold, it starts just fine, but then the idle revs jump and the engine races. I turn off the ignition then start it again, which helps sometimes but not always. Is there some sort of electric idle adjustment that’s out of whack? I’m worried that when I take this into the dealer they won’t find anything.
man i have a lancer 2003 oz rally and the car do the same thing the car was checked for a week and now is in the dealer again if i get any answer i will tell you the problem but the scanner shows everything ok
good luck with your car

[b]Yes. There is an electronic idle control device. It’s called the Idle Air Control motor. This component controls the engine idle under all conitions.
These devices are known to cause erratic idle conditions when they malfunction.
