I recently bought a 2004 Mercedes S430. It did not come with an electronic trunk opener/closer. It does, of course, open from the key fob or the front door, but it “pops” open loudly because of the (I guess) the tightness of the springs. It is also a bit hard to close. Are there pneumatic struts available to replace the springs? I’ve been searching the internet to no avail. I know this is not of the utmost importance, but I’ve become obsessed with this obvious flaw in an otherwise wonderful car.
