2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Electrical Start anomaly video

What is causing my Jeep to behave so erratically?

Check out the link to my videos and let me know if you can help.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem 2 months ago and I did not take the car in. Later in the day I went out to try and start it and it just worked. After toggling the key three times in rapid succession.

This morning I went to my garage started the car no problem. I backed the car out of the garage and stopped it in the driveway for someone to look at and the car just died (gauges went out)

I tried the key toggle trick and got the gauges to come back on briefly but never got it to start. My girlfriend jumped me but even with a jump the car would not start unless I gave it a heavy amount of gas while turning the ignition key (bad I know) I then had to rev the engine for about a minute because if I had let go as I had done previously you can feel the car die under your pedal if you know what I mean.

Thanks for reading and I encourage you to post videos of your car troubles too!

Carveaholic gave me a suggestion to start with:

"I suspect dirty or loose battery terminal connectors. It could be farther down the line in the electrical system, but I doubt it and why not start with the cheapest first? Remove the connectors and clean both the terminals and the connectors (Emory cloth maybe?) and reinstall making sure they are tight. I had a similar problem years ago, and it turned out to be loose connectors.

In the second video, it is clear the problem is that the car is upside down. Drive it out of the M.C. Escher painting and you should be good. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though, try that and let us know how it works. "

you should try and keep the original thread. it’s easier for us to follow.
