Stalling while driving. Starts right back up and drives a few miles before it stalls again.
Welcome to the forum…
Do you have a CEL (check engine light on)?? If so what are the codes…
When does it stall, at stop lights, and or while on the interstate etc?? Is it raining, cold, hot outside?? How long has it been doing this?? Have you replaced any parts or had any recent work done to the vehicle??
Good ideas above, more of that sort of info would be helpful towards a diagnosis. Both here and at your shop. My much older VW Rabbit had a similar symptom years ago, fuel pump relay & relay-plate problem. Also had a coil problem on same vehicle, stalled whenever driven over a puddle. The first step in the diagnosis is to figure out if the stalling problem is spark or fuel related If you are diy’er inclined, ask your shop to show you how to check next time it happens, preferably at a time it cranks but won’t start. Otherwise you have two options.
-
Eventually it will stall and won’t start. Then tow it to the shop. (least expensive way)
-
Ask shop to keep the car at the shop for however long it takes & proactively investigate, billed at their hourly shop rate (could prove very expensive, but would likely get the job done eventually).
Typical symptom of a crank sensor failing.
One of these times the engine isn’t going to restart.
