my 2002 pontiac aztek’s ignition cannot be completely shut off. I can take the key out of the ignition, and start they car just by turning the ignition switch without they key. What is going on?
There must be a glitch in the key cylinder. Try putting in some dry graphite compound and turning the switch with the key and see if that helps.
If cleaning and lube does not work, take it to a real locksmith. They will know more about this and cost less than the dealer. I agree it does sound like the cylinder and that should not cost all that much.
BTW take a look at your key ring. Does it have about five pounds of keys, flashlights etc on it. BINGO. Lighten the load and the locks will last longer.
