I was driving home, and everything quit–engine, radio, power steering. When the key is off, there is a clicking sound, and the dials are trying to move. At accessories, a faint click, at start, nothing. Where do I start looking?
If your engine dies, you will lose power steering so that’s not related. If you lose all battery power to engine, lights, radio, etc. and the car is dead, first thing to check would be if the battery itself is OK. Then check the connections at the battery and follow the main cables from the battery to make sure the connections are good. A volt meter would be very handy. Sounds like you either have a cable or connection failure or the battery itself had a major failure.
