2001 Mazda B-3000 SE 3.0 L, V6
No prior history of mechanical or starting problems. Always started and ran without incident. Then ??
Incident 1: February 11, 2009 (Odometer reading 33,985)
Driven approximately 5 miles, engine turned off, parked for about 20 minutes, on attempt to start engine cranks, runs for about 5 seconds, dies, repeated attempts to restart fail ? engine cranks but will not start. Towed to local shop. After sitting overnight restarts without a problem. Computer readout indicates theft deterrent code and speed sensor code.
Incident 2: April 20, 2009 (Odometer reading 34,123)
Driven approximately 2 miles, engine turned off (key removed and doors locked), parked for about 2 hours, on attempt to start engine cranks, runs for about 5 seconds, dies, and repeated attempts to restart fail ? engine cranks but will not start. Disconnected battery to try to reset system no effect. After sitting with no attempts to restart for approximately 4 hours restarts without a problem. Local repair shop suspected a problem with the driver?s side door lock, lubricated the lock. They also replaced a speed sensor.
Incident 3: May 22, 2009 (Odometer reading 34,192)
Driven approximately 3 miles, engine turned (key removed doors locked) off, parked for about 15-20 minutes, on attempt to start engine cranks, runs for about 5 seconds, dies, and repeated attempts to restart fail ? engine cranks but will not start. Repeatedly locked and unlocked the doors with key and remote entry with no effect. Towed to local shop, replaced driver side door latch assembly.
Incident 4: May 30, 2009 Odometer reading (34,218)
Driven approximately 30 miles, engine turned off (key removed doors locked), parked for about 15-20 minutes, started and moved truck about 50 feet, engine turned off, key left in ignition, sits for 5 minutes, (driver?s seat moved) on attempt to start engine cranks, runs for about 5 seconds, dies, and repeated attempts to restart fail ? engine cranks but will not start. Repeatedly locked and unlocked the doors with key and remote entry with no effect. Disconnected battery to try to reset system with no effect. Swapped FUEL pump relay and WASHER motor relay with no effect. After sitting with no attempts to restart for approximately 8 hours restarts without a problem.
