2001 Lincoln Town Car steering question

I have two problems with a Lincoln Town Car that is otherwise in about 99% of its’ original condition. First my power steering goes out maybe about 2% of the time it only seems to happen when the weather is cold. It only lasts a very short time, then everything is normal again. I have had the power steering pump/reservoir and the power steering gear replaced. the condition still seems to happen, but only when the outside temperature is cold. I live in Maine. Next, my message center seems to be giving out false information. It tells me my average speed is 11 mph and my miles per gallon is 11 or 12 and after filling up, my miles to empty is 150 or so.You know that all three pieces of data are totally incorrect. What could be causing these two problems? Could it be the cold temps this winter? Thanks a lot for giving me the opportunity to ask. I’ll be waiting for an answer! Thanks, and may God always bless ya, Ray!

Do you not realize that putting what appears to be your name and address on an open web site is not a good thing to do ? Same goes for putting your email.
@cdaquila Carolyn, do you want to edit this thing in case the OP doesn’t?

How do I edit my message on your website? everything I’ve tried in order to do it has not allowed me to do so! Robert Post

Do you see the pencil looking thing just above your first post at the right side? Click on that.

I’d suggest that maybe the power steering is getting a bad signal to its EVO valve. That is “electronically variable orifice” or a control valve that adjusts the power steering effort on the car. Since those parts are new, I think the signal its getting is bad and might relate back to the other problems you are experiencing with the trip computer.

I’m not sure where the EVO signals and the trip computer signals come from - body computer or engine computer - but I think that is the root of your problem. All the computers need to be scanned to insure that all the sensors that feed them and that the computers themselves are working and communicating with each other is a first step. If your mechanic can’t do this, take it to the dealer.

Robert Post here again. I’ve clicked on the pencil looking icon up in the upper right corner to edit my posting, but all it does is bring up a text window with the heading ‘History’, and when I highlight and try to delete what I want to delete, it does nothing. That can’t be the correct way to do it, can it? Please go into a little more detail of how to edit my posting. Thanks!

I meant lower right for the pencil thing. Should be next to the reply word.
Also as far as we know Ray does not post here.

Robert Post here again. There is no pencil icon at the bottom, the only one is at the top. How do I delete the post entirely? Thanks for your help!

When you’re looking at the bottom right corner of your post, you should see a button to link, a pencil to edit, 3 dots that “show more”, and then the reply button. If you don’t have the pencil, perhaps you’re too new the forums to have editing access? (@cdaquila can you weigh in on this and perhaps take care of his email and mailing addresses?)

Hello. And hello @RobertPost - I deleted your name and address from your original post.
