2001 Ford F-150 - Water from tailpipe

Why does water spray out my tailpipe when goin down road but doesn’t drip sitting at a idle and haven’t lost any from radiator

Condensation and exhaust turned up a little keeping it from dripping when not running maybe??..

I expect if you start your truck when the engine is cold, and it is facing uphill so tailpipe is lower than engine, you’ll see some water start come out the tailpipe within 5 minutes idling. The water is from this chemical reaction that occurs inside the cylinders when the engine is running

ch2 (gasoline) + O2 (from the air) => cO2 + h20 (water)

the reason you don’t see any water coming out the tailpipe once the truck is warmed up, while there’s still just as much water coming out, but it comes out in the form of invisible water vapor.

I think you need to read the OP again…

My theory is that it doesn’t drip at idle b/c it is tilted downhill. It will drip at idle if facing uphill. Hopefully OP will do the experiment & report back, easy enough to do.

The tail pipe doesn’t quite exit at the lowest spot on the muffler, condensation accumulates in the muffler, then is blown out while accelerating. There should be a drip hole at the rear of the muffler but those get dirty and probably can’t keep up with the volume of condensation.
