P044 code on 2000 frontier 4cyl with 110,000 miles. what is most likely cause???

PO44 engine code:

The engine control module (ECM) has detected a leak in the fuel tank vapor system or a vapor pressure sensor has malfunctioned.

This indicates is that the EVAP system will not create a significant vacuum when it performs its leak test, as monitored by the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor.
