2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission question

Shifting into overdrive has always been slow but would eventually happen. Now I can run up to about 75 or 3200 rpm and it just doesnt shift. Just started doing this the past 2 days…I’ve got a long trip for this weekend. Will it not going into overdrive burn up my tranny? I know it will burn more gas.

In all probability it’s an electrical problem rather than an internal problem. I’d take it to a reputable transmission shop and have it scanned before my trip.

Check the transmission fluid level and condition first.

BC.

I would definately have a trans shop look at it. It needs to be scanned, we need to know whether O/D is being commanded by the computer, and if not, why not.
