2000 Honda Civic LX

I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX. When I am braking, mostly from 40 mph or less, there is a loud “thunk, thunk, thunk” noise coming from under the car. The sounds seems to be coming more from the right side of the car, varying from front to back, but mostly back. This is a front wheel drive vehicle. It does not do this consistently all the time, but I would say 90% of the time. I am not sure what is causing this.

Wheels off inspection required when complaints such as yours are reported.

So, if I take my car in to a dealership or repair facility, they would know to do that? Or should I suggest that?
