2000 Chevy Silverado

I have 2000 Chevy Silverado…the rear driveline fell out on me due to a ujoint failing.i was stranded so I took rear driveline out and ran it in 4 hi for a couple weeks.Well I heard a grinding weird noise from the front of my truck and it stopped pulling altogether…I’m sure it damaged transfer case.my question is if I put rear driveline back in the truck can I still run it in 2 wheel drive?

No clue… It depends on what broke in the front and I can’t tell that from here.

I believe this truck’s rear prop shaft uses a slip yoke connection at the transfer case, which if removed would leave a hole around the output shaft. Driving the truck with a hole there could cause loss of lubricant from the transfer case. That wouldn’t be good.

Calling a tow truck and getting it fixed right would have been a lot cheaper. Good luck.
