changed the timing belt on a 1.9 tdi did the marks correctly but now it wort start just white fumes of smoke
Most likely the injector timing is off. The white smoke is injected but unburnt diesel oil. The oil is not being injected at the peak compression.
Alternately the valve timing is off causing low compression. It that were the case you would have had valve/piston contact. So check your compression.
