My 1998 Honda Accord (VTEC) sporadically hesitates when accelerating from a stop. The check engine light reads “too lean”. The mechanics replaced the sending unit, the fuel filter, and gave it a complete tune-up. I have seen no improvement. The problem does not seem to be influenced by weather conditions or type of gas. When starting up from a stop, the car will start to go, but then dies right off to where I think it’s going to stall but it never does. Within a few seconds, it takes right off again. Again, it’s very sporadic (sometimes every 100 miles or so). The mechanic is stumped!
