1998 dodge ram van.... boss hog

Thanks to who answered my last question on possible faulty ignition switch. I also seem to have a no start issue, sometimes solved by moving lever from p to n and back.

I will taking the van into a new mechanic, and my question is how will they test to check the ignition switch, neutral safety switch and how difficult is it to replace the ignition switch? Does the steering wheel and air bag have to be removed?

Thanks … craig

If moving the shift lever makes a change then the neutral safety switch is the most likely suspect. That can be easily checked by using a test light probe or voltmeter and checking for power through the switch. Power is supplied through the switch to the starter solenoid.
