Have a 97 ford contour, the temperature gauge on the dash does not work. Changed the coolant temperature sensor, still not working. Some mechanic told to me to change engine temperature sensor, but can’t locate it on the car, does anyone know where is located?
REPLACEMENT 4cyl 2.0Liter
Drain engine cooling system.
Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
Disconnect fuel charging wiring (9D930) from water temperature indicator sender unit (10884) located on the water thermostat housing.
Remove water temperature indicator sender unit.
To install, reverse removal procedure noting the following:
Tighten water temperature indicator sender unit to 7-10 Nm (62-89 inch lbs.) .
REPLACEMENT V6 2.5Liter
Drain engine cooling system.
Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
Remove air cleaner outlet tube (9B659). See Powertrain Management.
Disconnect fuel charging wiring (9D930) from water temperature indicator sender unit (10884) located on the water crossover.
Remove water temperature indicator sender unit.
To install, reverse removal procedure noting the following:
Tighten water temperature indicator sender unit to 18-24 Nm (13-18 ft. lbs.)
