1997 Acura NSX - Fan acts weird

My air conditioner only works at high fan speed for about 30 minutes, then I can use the other fan speeds.

Welcome, your Ask Someone has been redirected to Car Talk…

What do you mean your A/C only works on high fan speed, does any air come out at other speeds but just not cold, or Zero air comes out of the vents???

If you have air coming out of the vents but not cold then you probably need to take the vehicle into auto repair shop that does A/C work, NOT Jiffy Lube or someplace like that, but a real repair shop…

How long have you had the vehicle and how many miles are on it??

If the OP is referring only to fan speed, and not to the temperature of the A/C’s output, then I think he should consider the likelihood that the blower motor’s resistor is failing. After 28 years, failure of that resistor wouldn’t be surprising.

You also might post this on an NSX forum, there may be some quirks for this low-production sports car.

Looking at the wiring diagram for the HVAC system for your vehicle, the only thing I can see that can cause this problem is the climate control module.

Sounds serious. I think you should sell me ur car. I’ll make a generous offer.

There are two offered with asking prices at Hemmings.com. A 1991 for $75,000 and a 1994 for $122,000. I know you’re joking, but IMO it’s worth highlighting the popularity of these rare cars.

But those advertised cars don’t need a $50,000 fan resistor…

I’ve heard the NSX described as a reliable Ferrari.

I recall reading an anecdote about the first time that Honda’s CEO was shown the NSX, and he asked about the cost of certain engine components. When he was told how much the connecting rods (made from Titanium, I think…) cost, he almost had a coronary.
