1996 Toyota Camry Wagon Engine Light

The engine light is on and the book just says bring it to a dealer. Forget that. The fluids are fine. Any ideas?

Call around to chain auto parts stores (e.g. Autozone). Have then read your codes (they do it free). Write down the codes - just the codes, not what anything says about them. They are in the form of Pxxxx where x’s are numbers. Post the codes here along w/ all the info you can give about the car - how its running/driving, and maintenance history.

Yes. Check some auto parts stores. Some will scan the computer for free to pull codes that will indicate what’s causing the engine light to come on. And until that’s done, you don’t know what’s wrong, and it could result in component damage.
