I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. The driver’s door is missing the black plastic L-shaped piece next to the door latch cylinder that allows it to stay locked. I haven’t found one at a local salvage yard yet, and don’t know what it’s called to search online. Anyone know what it is called?
That is the door latch striker. The “L” shaped bracket is to keep the door secure during a collision, it isn’t needed to close the door, perhaps the latch has failed.
This part ?
I don’t think that is your problem though, my guess is the latch assembly in the door, or the striker bolt just needs adjusted.
Good to know. Thank you!
Yes, that’s the part. We’ll try adjusting bolt. Thanks!
