I have a 1995 Saturn SL1 that has the switch stuck on vent. I can physically move the switch from vent to the defrost or floor heat position, but the air only comes from the vent. It felt like something came loose or broke about two weeks ago, and now, I cannot defrost my windows. Any ideas on how to fix or what the problem is?
The first thing to do is just figure out how to pull that part of the instrument panel and check the linkage. The thing that you thought may have come loose probably did.
If it isn’t the switch linkage itself, then you’ll need to dig deeper into the dash to check out what are probably vacuum or electrical actuated flap controls that direct air to different places depending on where the switch is set.
I’m guessing option one might fix you up.
