They most likely rebuilt an engine and have a left over O-ring.

Better a leftover O ring than a piston ring. I remember a Road & track cartoon showing a Ferrari V12 leaving a shop with the mechanic wiping his brow and saying “Whew, glad that’s over with” and a shiny new piston ring on the floor/

I’m guessing it’s fuel injector O-rings. If so, there’s an many as there are cylinders. Either 4 or 6, depending on which engine you got. There’s probably the same number of grommets involved too.
