what could be the cause of play in left side steering rack of 1990 ford taurus? tie rod end is OK. play seems to be inside rack.
There is a ball joint just inside the rack, usually called the inner tie rod end. Have this checked. This is a replaceable part, the rack does not have to be removed or disassembled.
