1988 Nissan Sentra

The initial symptoms:

1. It starts with one turn of the ignition, but stalls if I release the gas pedal.

2. Idle was normal.

3. After accelerating it begins to surge at 40-45 miles per hour, but continues to run. i.e. I drove it from Rockport to Victoria at 40 miles per hour and was able to drive it around town within the speed limit of 30-35 with no problems after it warmed up.

I brought to the Nissan dealership with these symptoms and they replaced the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body position sensor included.

The symptoms I now:

1. It starts after 2-3 turns.

2. It may or may not stall when backing out of the drive way.

3. If it does not stall it will accelerate to 15 miles per hour traveling 1/2 way around the block and stalls.

4. It has to cool for 2-3 minutes and will start again and repeat the exact same symptom.

Nissan dealership wants $760.00 to replace the computer with no guarantees. Have already paid them $579.00 for above repair.

Help! What is the problem and what is the procedure to repair it?

Thanks.
